How to Decorate for Winter

Those months between December 25th and mid March can be long and cold but something that helps me stay on the cheerier side is my winter decor. During this time I fight the urge to go all out Spring in my house but then find it kind of sad putting away all the Christmas decor. So I try to find a happy medium. In this blog post I have a few tips that can help you decorate your home for winter:

1.Stay simple

Don’t try to replace all your Christmas decorations with something new.  Add a few things here and there like a simple centerpiece or new throw pillows. I put together a few winter throw pillows ideas for you below from Target:

2. Neutrals + Pops of color

I like to keep my winter decor neutral… think whites, tans, grays, wooden textures.  Then add some dimension with darker colors like burgundy, navy, dark greens and gray blues.

3. Keep your winter greenery

Keep some of your winter greenery, but take out the Christmas ribbon or Christmas specific decor.  I like to use winter like stems for my vases during those long months between December and March. Shop my favorite winter greenery below:

4. Make it you

Add some fun to your home with a new wooden snowflake garland like the one I made below or a cute little snowman figure on your mantle.  Maybe you have burlap and buffalo print sign you love.  Hang it up!  Decorating is all about incorporating your own personal style ๐Ÿ™‚
