Has anyone else seen those fun wooden decor bead garlands in boutiques and in stores like Target’s new line with Studio McGee?? Well instead of spending $30 on one strand, I created this tutorial so that you can create five or more for the price of one! This is a simple craft that you can get your kids involved in and the end result is some pretty neat decor 🙂 Checkout the full tutorial below:

- Round beads in three sizes
- Pentagon shaped beads
- Miscellaneous shaped beads
- Or try the glass beads
- Jute String or Cooking Twine
- Scissors
- Scotch tape

2- Start Stringing
Take the end of your string and use a piece of scotch tape to tape around the end of the string. This will create a stronger end so that the beads string easier. Determine your pattern and get to stringing!

I recommend creating your bead strand about 18-30 inches long. It all depends on your heart’s desire 🙂 Once you have strung all the beads you want, leave about eight inches of string on both ends and cut the string.
3- Tassel Time
Time to make the tassels! There are many ways you can do this but I think this is the easiest and quickest. Start by making 6-8 inch loops with the string like the image below:

Once you have made about 5-8 loops, cut the string at one end:

Fold the loops in half and tied onto the end of your bead strand like below:

Make sure the knot is nice and tight! Repeat on the other end of your bead strand.

Confused about how to tie the knot? Check out my video below:
I have found this is the easiest way to tie the tassels onto the bead garland, but have seen many other ways! So experiment with it!
4- Finish the Tassels
Cut the the loops of the tassels:

5- Finish up
Now is your time to admire your creation! Decor beads and bead garlands are all the rage right now in home decor. So do yourself a favor and get to stringing!!
